Fine Arts faculty members Kyra Garrigue and Justin Baker are currently exhibiting in the two-person exhibition Historical Past at Collar Works Gallery in Troy.
The single thread of memory as a basis for creation drives both artists’ work from distinctively different terrains. Garrigue’s installations contemplate memory as visceral repetition of image and sound. Baker’s photographs examine the brutality of youth through the confounding of reality. In Historical Past, Garrigue and Baker dissect the individual narrative that is written everyday into vision and sound.
Historical Past opened Oct. 28 and will be on view through Nov. 18.
